student representative :)

Yeah, I've been voted to represent our group together with one girl... I finally got 80% of the votes of our class

All hat to vote for all 4 candidates at one turn, so I got 80% and the other 4 shared 20% ;)

Tonight we will go Bowling to have something different to our studies... after our OB courses this week, everybody is now switching to Economics to read the book in a week to be prepared for the classes starting on the 6th of Nov...

...my courses...

A few of you asked about the courses I have to go for, here is the answer :)

I have 7 cour-courses which are the following:

and then I have to select two elective courses out of a list of 33 courses. I didn't decide till now, but I will decide between the following ones:

Who is interested can have a look at all courses at this page:

sundowner and jogging trail

Here is a picture of todays sundowner...

and the beginning of my jogging trail...

OB Classes

This week started the classes in OB for whom we had to read the book before going to classes... by talking with all the others in my class I found out, that there are just a few of us, who really read the book... but this means, that we (who read the book) have the advantage, that we can prepare for the exams in just reviewing and not new learning :)

... Tomorrow evening after OB classes we start our Economics-Group in which we try to read 3 Modules each day... there are 21 Modules and we have to finish reading till the 6th of Nov...

In OB we did a "Belbin" test, which should show us our team roles ... and surprise ... i should be the "Project Manager" :) and here are some phrases of the test which should be my style:

"I am happy to manage others in areas where I have some knowledge."
"I believe I have the determination to improve standards."
"I like taking overall responsibility."
"I am keen to learn about anything practical."

The funny part of this test was to find out that I'm the only guy of the whole class who has role-contributions for "Co-ordinator" and "Shaper" ... which means the leader quality :)

my class

Today we took a picture of our class, so you can see now with which guys I have to deal the next month of my life :)

...and it goes on and one...

Sorry that I didn't feed your need of knowing what's up here in posting a message earlier this week. The reason is very simple, I'm studying the whole time... Because I have to finish reading the book of OB till next Monday I decided to increase my pace... this process started on Sunday and since then I had no day where I didn't study less then 10 hours ... Monday till 3 in the morning, yesterday till 2 and today I just finished OB Module 6 first reading and it is 1:20 am.
Tomorrow morning at 10 I'll try to be at the study-center and continue my work.

I thought it won't be soooo much to learn, but my hope is, that after finishing my way of reading the Modules (which means first-reading with translating missing words, highlighting important parts followed by a second-reading where I take notes of the highlighted parts...) all other guys at my group just read the stuff and forget about it after reading, I have the benefit, that I know some of the stuff I just read and so I hope I don't have so much work before my exams in December ... even when I have a slow way to work through the book ...

Unfortunately this style of studying although cuts my time I can spend for exercises and so I haven't been at the last trainings of the rowing club.... i hope that I can go there on Saturday, because it's really cool to do this sport and it should be nice weather at the place where we train (near Glasgow)...

... I slowly have a look, how my bed is and get some sleep :)

still to slowly ...

Hi folk,

today was a good study-day, because I managed it to study 5 hours in the morning and 4 in the evening... but I still feel, that my study is too slow ... I'm still on module 3 of OB...
I made the decision to read each module now twice. First I try to understand the whole text (including some translations I still have to do) and highlighting important stuff. Then I go through the chapter again and take notes and do some mind maps of the highlighted things. After doing this I try to complete the questions and case studies ...

To keep the balance of studying and getting fresh air I did so much sport last week, I didn't since a very long time. Yesterday I event went to the rowing-club of the university. The training on Mondays is just running round the campus and then some exercises with little spurts... but I felt so exhausted I spend the whole evening in regenerating :)

My goal for tomorrow is finishing OB Module 3 and read 2 Modules in Eco :o)

OB Chapter 1

After getting depressed yesterday, that I was too stupid to answer the questions after reading the first chapter of OB (Organisational Behaviour) I grabbed my stuff and jogged round the campus for round 40 mins ... (yeah it's a huge campus...) ... today I used to sleep till 10, made a nice breakfast and started with Chapter 1 again, this time I took much more notes, made some mind map's like the professors advised and now it work's better ... so I made a plan now, how to deal with all the stuff:

getting up at 8 am, having some coffee.
9 till 12 or 13 reading the chapter.
13-14 break for lunch.
14-16 read the stuff again, do the mind mapping
after doing this I make a little break and do the questions and the case study...

I hope now, this will work, I gonna start with this tomorrow morning .... yeah it's Sunday, but I have 9 chapters OB and 20 at Economics and so I have to get more speed, this first week was really lazy... and I have to finish reading OB by the 22st of Oct and Eco by the 6th of Nov ... and finally this is the "easy" first term, because I have just 2 courses, at least I need to succeed in 9 courses in 4 terms... now you can count what this means :)

soooooo much to do

After the first day we have been introduced by the people of the Business School, we started the second day with our Administration-Team which told us the stuff around the MBA. Then we got a introduction, how to use Mind Mapping and where it could be useful... for example in classes, because it's faster and so you can follow your teacher and take notes...

Then we got the advice to create "project plan" for our study, so we can control our study and our progress to complete the reading before we go to the exams :)

After this I had to prepare for the first real day on Wednesday, when we were introduced to "Running the British economy" ... we got a program for this and had to use different government tools to stimulate "our" economy which was sometimes good and if you do the wrong it gets really worse (like budget is in huge deficit or the unemployment rate is jumping :) ... but now we got a first view, how difficult it is for the politic to keep the economy running and growing... :)

Finally I managed it to drive to a supermarket and get some stuff to eat, because the food on campus is good in emergency, but it's still "British" kitchen ( it's open to everybody to think what this means :)

... guys, now I have to go to read a few hours in my "Organisational Behaviour" book, there are many pages waiting for me...

Pictures of my room

Finally I took some pictures of my room to give you an Idea how small it is :)

the bed-corner :)

and my desk where I'm sitting right now dropping you this lines :)

First day as student

My day started at the time of 7:30 which is really early for a student life, but I had to show up at the housekeeper of the hall I used to stay to get my parking license and so I had a good reason :)
And finally I got the permission at 8:45 when the guy appeared and then I had time go get a nice cup of coffee to start the day.

At 10 we had to show up at the Business School building where we have been waiting in a room to matriculate and get our student identity. Then we got an introduction by the Director of the School, had some lunch and then started with some games to know each other and build some groups. This was quiet good, because they gave us the message, that we can do the study alone and succeed, but we can do it better and build some learning groups!

Then I had a quick lunch with a few guys of the group and came back to the hall. Just when I was reading this posting, the fire alarm went off and we had to go outside freezing, because some guys have done some shit at the kitchen...

Now I have to start some study to have my stuff ready on Wednesday when we discuss the first part of Economy ...
